Sanjay Sarovar Dam 2025: सध्या काही दिवस पावसाने विश्रांती घेतली असली तरी मध्य प्रदेशात पुन्हा एकदा मुसळधार पावसाने हजेरी लावल्याने पूरसदृश परिस्थिती निर्माण झाली आहे. याच पार्श्वभूमीवर बुधवार, 16 जुलै रोजी, संजय सरोवर धरणाचे तीन दरवाजे उघडण्यात आले आहेत.
हे धरण मध्य प्रदेशातील सिवनी जिल्ह्यात वैनगंगा नदीवर बांधलेले असून, आशिया खंडातील सर्वात मोठ्या धरणांपैकी एक मानले जाते. धरणातून सुमारे 20,506 क्युमेक पाणी नदीत सोडले जाणार असल्याने, वैनगंगा नदीची पाणीपातळी लवकरच वाढण्याची शक्यता आहे.
याआधी राज्यात आणि विदर्भात झालेल्या मुसळधार पावसामुळे गोसेखुर्द धरणाचे 33 दरवाजे उघडण्यात आले होते, त्यामुळे वैनगंगा नदीला पूर येऊन हजारो हेक्टर शेती पाण्याखाली गेली होती. आता पुन्हा एकदा पूर परिस्थिती उद्भवू नये म्हणून नदीकाठच्या गावांना सतर्कतेचा इशारा देण्यात आला आहे.
कारधा येथे सध्या वैनगंगा नदीची पाणीपातळी 242.22मीटर असून, धोक्याची पातळी 245.50 मीटर आहे. सध्या गोसेखुर्द धरणाचे 7 दरवाजे उघडून 936 क्युमेक पाणी, तर धापेवाडा बॅरेजचे सात दरवाजे देखील उघडण्यात आले आहेत.
पावसाचा जोर असाच राहिला, तर वैनगंगा नदीच्या पाणीपातळीत झपाट्याने वाढ होऊन मोठा पूर येण्याची शक्यता नाकारता येत नाही.
Three Gates of Sanjay Sarovar Dam Opened Amid Heavy Rains in Madhya Pradesh; Rising Water Levels in Wainganga River Spark Flood Warning
At present, the rainfall situation has eased temporarily. Earlier, heavy downpours across the state, including Vidarbha, had led to significant waterlogging. In response, 33 gates of the Gosikhurd Dam were opened to maintain the normal water level of the Wainganga River, which caused flooding and submerged thousands of hectares of farmland, resulting in extensive crop damage.
Now, with continuous and heavy rainfall lashing Madhya Pradesh, flood-like conditions are once again a concern. On Wednesday, 16 July, three gates of the Sanjay Sarovar Dam were opened as a precautionary measure. Notably, this dam, located in Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh, is constructed on the Wainganga River and is considered one of the largest dams in Asia.
Since the Sanjay Sarovar releases its water directly into the Wainganga River, and with around 20,506 cusecs of water expected to be discharged, a rise in river levels is anticipated. Local authorities have urged all riverbank villages to remain alert.
Currently, the water level at Wainganga River in Kardha stands at 242.22 meters, with the danger mark at 245.50 meters. As rain continues in Madhya Pradesh, the water levels of rivers and streams are rising rapidly, prompting the decision to release water from Sanjay Sarovar Dam.
Additionally, five gates of the Gosikhurd Dam have also been opened, releasing 726 cusecs of water, along with seven gates of the Dhapewada Barrage now open as well.
If rainfall continues in the coming days, a sudden surge in Wainganga River’s water level is expected, increasing the risk of another major flood in the region.
