चंद्रपूरमध्ये OYO ब्रँडचा गैरवापर, १५ हॉटेल्सवर गुन्हे दाखल
चंद्रपूर (प्रतिनिधी): चंद्रपूर शहरात OYO ब्रँड आणि लोगोचा बनावट वापर करून व्यवसाय करणाऱ्या १५ हॉटेल्स आणि लॉज चालकांविरोधात शहर पोलिसांनी कठोर कारवाई केली आहे. या कारवाईला राजकीय पाठींबाही लाभला असून, भाजपचे नेते आणि माजी मंत्री सुधीर मुनगंटीवार यांनी विधानभवनात हा मुद्दा उपस्थित केला होता.
मुनगंटीवार यांनी विधानसभेत बोलताना राज्यातील OYO हॉटेल्सबाबत गंभीर प्रश्न उपस्थित करत, काही हॉटेल्समध्ये खोल्या तासाच्या आधारे भाड्याने दिल्या जात असल्याची माहिती दिली होती. त्यानंतर काही दिवसांतच OYO कंपनीचे नोडल अधिकारी मनोज माणिक पाटील यांनी चंद्रपूर पोलीस ठाण्यात तक्रार दिली.
तक्रारीनुसार, OYO Hotel & Homes Pvt. Ltd. ही अधिकृत नोंदणीकृत कंपनी असून, OYO ROOMS हे ट्रेडमार्क नोंदणीकृत आहे. मात्र, चंद्रपूरमधील काही हॉटेल्स OYO चा ब्रँड आणि लोगो अनधिकृतपणे वापरत असल्याच्या तक्रारी कंपनीकडे प्राप्त झाल्या होत्या.
१७ जुलै २०२५ रोजी नोडल अधिकाऱ्यांनी गुप्त माहितीच्या आधारे तपास केला आणि उघडकीस आले की १५ हॉटेल्स/लॉज OYO कंपनीशी कोणताही करार न करता तिच्या लोगोचा आणि ब्रँडिंगचा वापर करत आहेत. या प्रकारामुळे OYO च्या प्रतिमेला हानी पोहोचली आहे.
या प्रकरणी भारतीय न्याय संहिता 2023 चे कलम 345(3), 347(1) आणि ट्रेडमार्क कायदा 1999 अंतर्गत कलम 103, 104 अन्वये गुन्हे दाखल करण्यात आले आहेत.

या कारवाईस पोलीस अधीक्षक मुम्मका सुदर्शन, अपर पोलीस अधीक्षक ईश्वर कातकडे, व उपविभागीय पोलीस अधिकारी सुधाकर यादव यांच्या मार्गदर्शनाखाली पोलीस निरीक्षक निशिकांत रामटेके यांनी अंमलात आणले.
तपासदरम्यान काही हॉटेल्सवर मध्यरात्री छापे टाकण्यात आले असून, हद्दीबाहेरच्या हॉटेल्सचीही चौकशी सुरू आहे. ही कारवाई ब्रँड गैरवापर थांबवण्यासाठी महत्त्वपूर्ण ठरली आहे.
Chandrapur:
The Chandrapur City Police have taken strict action against 15 hotels and lodges for unauthorized use of the OYO brand name and logo. This crackdown follows a demand raised by BJP senior leader and former state minister Sudhir Mungantiwar in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly.
During his speech, Mungantiwar raised concerns about the increasing number of OYO-branded hotels operating across the state, often offering rooms on an hourly rental basis. He questioned the legality of their operations and emphasized the need for government scrutiny.
Following this, Manoj Manik Patil, the nodal officer of OYO Hotels & Homes Pvt. Ltd., filed a written complaint at Chandrapur City Police Station. According to him, OYO is a registered company under the Companies Act, 2013, and its "OYO ROOMS" trademark is protected under the Trademarks Act, 1999.
Upon investigation, it was found that 15 hotels/lodges in Chandrapur were illegally using OYO’s logo, branding elements, and design without any formal association or agreement with the company. This was a direct violation of OYO’s intellectual property rights, causing reputational and financial harm to the brand.
On July 17, 2025, the OYO representative visited Chandrapur to gather confidential intel. The police investigation confirmed the misuse of the OYO brand by these hotels.
Based on the findings, the Chandrapur police have filed FIRs against the hotel operators under:
IPC 2023 Sections 345(3), 347(1)
Trademarks Act, 1999 – Sections 103 and 104

The operation was led by Police Inspector Nishikant Ramteke under the guidance of Superintendent Mummaka Sudarshan, Additional SP Ishwar Katkade, and SDPO Sudhakar Yadav.
Raids were conducted late into the night at multiple hotels. Police also plan to extend the probe to hotels located outside city limits. This swift and decisive action is being viewed as a strong move to curb brand misuse and uphold trademark law enforcement.
