गोंदिया: जिल्ह्यात गेल्या तीन दिवसांपासून सुरू असलेल्या सततच्या पावसाने शनिवारी (२६ जुलै) पहाटे पाच ते सकाळी नऊ या चार तासांत प्रचंड जोर धरला. या मुसळधार पावसामुळे गोंदिया शहरासह जिल्ह्यातील अनेक भाग अक्षरशः पाण्याखाली गेले आहेत. रस्ते, वसाहती, रुग्णालये अशा ठिकाणी पाणी साचल्याने नागरिकांचे दैनंदिन आयुष्य विस्कळीत झाले आहे.
शहरातील न्यू लक्ष्मीनगर, छोटा गोंदिया, सिव्हिल लाईन, सिंधी कॉलनी, परमात्मा एक नगर, सूर्याटोला, राणी अवंतीबाई चौक आणि गोरेलाल चौक या परिसरांमध्ये रस्ते तलावासारखे दिसत होते. काही भागांमध्ये घरात पाणी शिरल्याने रहिवाशांना सुरक्षित स्थळी स्थलांतर करावे लागले. आपत्ती व्यवस्थापन पथक सतर्क असून, मदत व पुनर्वसन कार्य सुरू आहे.

प्रशासनाने नागरिकांना अनावश्यक प्रवास टाळण्याचे व सुरक्षित स्थळी राहण्याचे आवाहन केले आहे. हवामान विभागाने पुढील काही तास मुसळधार पावसाची शक्यता वर्तवली असून नागरिकांनी सतर्क राहण्याचे निर्देश देण्यात आले आहेत.
Gondia Flooded: Four Hours of Heavy Rain Paralyzes Daily Life
Gondia district has been experiencing continuous rainfall for the past three days, but on Saturday (July 26), the situation worsened when heavy downpour lashed the region from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. The intense rain turned the entire Gondia city and surrounding areas into a waterlogged zone, severely affecting normal life.
In just four hours, several localities such as New Laxminagar, Chhota Gondia, Civil Lines, Sindhi Colony, Parmatma Ek Nagar, Suryatola, Rani Avantibai Chowk, and Gorelal Chowk saw streets submerged under water. Roads resembled ponds, and water entered homes and hospitals, forcing many residents to evacuate to safer places.
The district disaster management teams are actively working on relief and rescue operations. Authorities have urged citizens to avoid unnecessary travel and remain indoors unless essential. The Meteorological Department has predicted further heavy rainfall in the region, and residents have been advised to stay alert and follow official instructions.
The city is battling not just with waterlogging but also with disruptions in transportation and essential services, making this one of the most challenging rainfalls of the season so far.
