IAF MiG-21 Fighter Aircraft Crashes |
An Indian Air Force MiG-21 fighter aircraft crashed near Moga in Punjab late last night. The pilot, Squadron Leader Abhinav Choudhary sustained fatal injuries. "There was an aircraft accident last night involving a Bison aircraft of the IAF in the western sector. The pilot, Sqn Ldr Abhinav Choudhary, sustained fatal injuries," the Indian Air Forces said on Twitter.
“IAF condoles the tragic loss and stands firmly with the bereaved family,” the tweet further stated. A court of inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident, IAF said.
This is the third crash of a MiG-21 aircraft this year. In March, a Group Captain of the IAF was killed in an accident involving a MiG-21 Bison aircraft at an airbase in central India.
