Coronavirus Live: AIIMS claims director third wave of the corona is not a threat to children
Coronavirus Live: It is feared that young children will be most affected by the third wave of the corona. However, the director of AIIMS hospital, Dr. A.S. Randeep Guleria has said.
As the first and second waves did not occur, there is no evidence that young children will be more infected in the third wave, he explained.
The elderly were more infected in the first wave of corona and the young in the second wave. Vaccination of both these classes is underway. On the same basis, it has been argued that a third wave could be dangerous for young children. But the pediatric association says it has no basis. Therefore, citizens should not be scared, said Dr. Guleria has said.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra has begun to make the health system more capable of coping with a possible third wave of the corona. A task force of pediatricians has also been set up.
